Viện tiến hành nhiệm vụ hợp tác quốc tế về sinh học và công nghệ sinh học và các lĩnh vực liên quan: trao đổi cán bộ; cử cán bộ đi đào tạo ngắn hạn và dài hạn (thực tập sinh, thạc sỹ, tiến sỹ và sau tiến sỹ); tham gia các chương trình/dự án hợp tác khoa học và công nghệ với các nước; tham gia và tổ chức các hội nghị, hội thảo quốc tế.

d) Đào tạo nguồn nhân lực khoa học và công nghệ có trình độ cao trong lĩnh vực công nghệ sinh học và các lĩnhvực khoa học khác có liên quan;
e) Dich vụ khoa học, công nghệ trong lĩnh vực công nghệ sinh học và các lĩnh vực khoa học khác có liên quan;
g) Hợp tác quốc tế trong lĩnh vực công nghệ sinh học các lĩnh vực khoa học khác có liên quan;và các lĩnh vực khoa học khác có liên quan;
